Reimbursement for travel costs
Work commutes
- Your service location will reimburse you for travel expenses incurred between the accommodation it provides and the service location.
- A daily commute is considered reimbursable if the one-way route exceeds three kilometres.
- Reimbursement is based on the cost of the cheapest public transportation ticket.
- Transportation may also be arranged, for example, with staff members.
Leave Travel
- Leave travel must be requested from your service location. Submit your ticket order via Omasivari. The service location representative will purchase the tickets in Sivariweb. You will receive the tickets in your preferred manner once the representative has approved the trip and bought the tickets.
- Leave travel is intended for trips between the service location and your home or place of residence.
- Leave travel must always be carried out in the most cost-effective way for the state, considering the circumstances.
- Leave travel cannot be granted for evening leaves (less than 24 hours).
- However, leave travel may be granted for attending entrance exams (or similar) or job interviews.
- Presenting your electronic non-military service certificate may entitle you to leisure travel discounts, such as on trains.
For special reasons presented by the non-military service person, the service location may, at its discretion, grant travel to the following locations:
- A location where you have a permanent job or study place
- The residence of your spouse or permanent partner
- The residence of your parent, sibling, or child
- A future residence, job, or study location, if you can present an invitation to a job interview, entrance exam, or similar document
The service location must reimburse the non-military service person for local transportation costs related to free leave travel if the distance to the nearest transport stop from the travel destination exceeds three kilometres.
